Young strikers Giuseppe Rossi and Dong Fangzhou scored second-half goals to
get United's Asia Tour off to a winning start.

After a hatful of first-half chances had been squandered the young duo ended
the resistance of the hard-working hosts with goals in the final 20 minutes.

Sir Alex Ferguson again fielded two totally different sides in each half,
and the first 45 minutes were utterly frustrating as the Reds were foiled
time and again by Hong Kong keeper Fan.

Ruud van Nistelrooy endured a personal nightmare as he was consistently
thwarted by the home No 1. The Dutch striker also contrived to send two
presentable chances over the crossbar.

Ji-sung Park put in a steady display but was unable to add the gloss of a
goal, again because of Fan's heroics.

Louis Saha saw a header flash wide of the post and second-half captain Ryan
Giggs was also foiled as United's pressure grew, but the deadlock was
finally broken after 68 minutes.

When the hosts failed to properly clear Giggs' corner, the Welshman
delivered an inch-perfect cross into the area which Giuseppe Rossi tapped
over the line from four yards.

It was the Italian-born striker's second goal in two friendlies following
his strike at Peterborough earlier this week.

The icing on the cake was provided by Dong Fangzhou, who was making his
United debut after 18 months on loan at Royal Antwerp.

The Chinese striker capped an impressive, energetic display by racing clear
of the defence after a poor clearance and clipping calmly over Fan into the
far corner.

United team (first-half): Van der Sar, P Neville, Pique, Ferdinand,
Fletcher, Park, Jones, Richardson, Scholes (c), Van Nistelrooy, Rooney.

United team (second-half): Howard, Bardsley, G Neville, Silvestre, O'Shea,
Kleberson, Smith, Giggs (c), Fangzhou, Rossi, Saha.

Report by Steve Bartram.
